I was born in Macomb, Michigan and went to St. Peter's Lutheran School through 3rd grade. After a family move, I attended St. Mark Lutheran School in Flint, Michigan through 8th grade, and from there attended Kearsley High School. I received my bachelor's in Elementary Education from Concordia University Wisconsin with a double minor in Social Studies and Music.
I am now starting my 9th year of teaching at Concordia Elementary School here in Fort Wayne and I now teach 5th grade Social Studies and 5-8 Choir. In the past 8 years I have been blessed to teach 2nd grade and 5th grade, as well as earn my Master's degree in Gifted and Talented Education from IPFW. In 2011, I had the joy of being married to my high school sweetheart, Joel Walter.
I am blessed to be a stay at home mom to my first child, Crew, for 3 days of the week, and equally blessed to be a teacher to 34 5th graders and 63 choral students 2 days a week. I love exploring history, cultures, and people groups with my students, as well as connecting the past to their present and future.
